Madagascar - Tourism - The Miami Project

The goal is to beautify and redevelop the seaside by installing tourist attractions and entertainment spaces to make it a place worthy of the tourist beach of Miami, in the United States. This project was one of President Andry Rajoelina's campaign promises during the 2018 election.

The first phase involves the creation of an 800-meter-long protective structure along the coast, the construction of a garden, a skate park, an outdoor sports field, and commercial spaces. This work will be completed in March 2021. Ratsimilaho Boulevard, which runs along the seafront, is also being rehabilitated.

The rehabilitation of the Besakana and Manjakamiadana Palaces

Twenty-five years after the fire that ravaged the Royal Palace, the restoration work on Besakana, the oldest palace in the Anatirova region, was carried out with respect for history, culture, and traditions. The government thus took on the challenge of renovating this historic monument in just a few months. The Rova of Antananarivo, now called the "Rova of Madagasikara," will be built as a museum housing elements of Madagascar's history. At the same time, the Manjakamiadana Palace, or the Queen's Palace, the former official residence of Madagascar's rulers in the 19th century, was also rehabilitated.
